One fateful afternoon in the summer of 2000, I said I would like to be on the steering committee of a new Technology Industry association in Kamloops. The reason I gave was that I was 'funny'. I think that strange and interesting answer came mostly from my nervousness about being asked to so publicly expose a motivation for my desire.
And now, 3 and a half years later, I realize what I should have said was that I cared. While people were strutting their credentials, experience, and intelligence, three and half years ago, I should have said that I really really cared.
I am not sure what else can explain the fact that I am still here. on what is now a Board of Directors of a group called Digital Valley. I still have a passion about creating a really fervent high tech centre in Kamloops. I was born in this city, Kamloops. And I intend always to have my base right here.
Digital Valley is a bit of 'diamond in the rough'. We have had some issues really creating long term momentum. But I have great faith that we will and, when we do, its going to have a really lasting impact on our community.
More on Digital Valley on this blog...you can be sure of that.
