Annoyed by American Company Tim Horton's
I like Tim's as much as the next person. But, I was kind of dismayed when I learnt Tim Horton's is now owned by American megafastfood corp Wendy's. Hey, I like Wendy's too. But Tim Horton's represented something quintessentially Canadian (note use of past tense).
Tim's newest street ad with a steamin cup of coffee we all love so well also include the tag line "true patriot love". I think Tim Horton's lost the right to wrap themselves in the Maple Leaf when they sold across the border. Their newest ad theme irks me. I am not the only one, it seems. What do you think?
It's not just Tim's, Arjun.
Future Shop (now owned by US big box chain Best Buy) does the same thing. We bought an ink cartridge there recently and it wasn't even in Canadian packaging--not a word of French to be found.
The Proudly Canadian sign still adorns their entry way though.

I guess the rationale is that they are still Canadian based companies, but I don't buy that.

Thanks Arjun I used to really love dutchies.
(notice my use of the past tense)
