Workflow suggestions?

I work best when I block time for different activities, but I find it difficult to engage in this practice consistently.

I have an urge to be always connected to others, and to be plugged in.

I have been in a phase in my life in which I really need the best organization possible. Lots of extremely important and worthwhile activities, and I don't subscribe to the notion of paring back - not as job #1 anyways.

So, any workflow suggestions would be very useful. I think I am going to spend the next half hour before bed researching David Allen's "getting things done" framework again .

What I am learning today...

It is a great day when you learn something, even something small. Today, I am spending time learning big. I am at New Media Expo in Las Vegas, in the middle of thee days of presentations on podcasting, video blogging and all things related.

It's been really valuable to hear first hand and meet all sorts of people - those very experienced, those just starting out, and those in between.

Seems to me the challenge now will be to continue the learning and build on the relationships made, post conference.

Thoughts on Attending the New Media Expo, Las Vegas Nevada.

I really had a good and productive time at the New Media Expo in Las Vegas. This particular expo (there are other events with similar names) dealt with the ins and outs of podcasting and video blogging. The organizers of the show are trying hard in a pretty difficult market. And some experienced podcasters and video bloggers found the expo to be at a crossroads.

I, on the other hand, as a person very new to most of this information, soaked up a lot of great stuff and met some really interesting people. The people I met were even more important, I am thinking, because I hope to create good ongoing friendships with them, and build a bit of a support network for any future work we do.

I learnt about how to create a podcast from a technical perspective. I got ideas about how to grow an audience. I explored my growing interest in online video. I learnt about my options in terms of microphones, mixers, and other services.

Mixers and microphones might sound a little daunting to people just starting out, and you really don't need to use a mixer or even a great studio microphone, but I personally have heard a lot of people talk about the importance of good sound, how its kinder to the listener, and even if you start really basic, researching how to achieve friendly sound quality seems really important.

There has been some talk about the fact the New Media Expo moved from a smaller venue in a smaller city to the convention centre of the universe - Las Vegas. I personally felt, that through the Expo web sites and wikis, I was able  to find out about gatherings that allowed me to meet a lot of people, and it was kind of fun to be in Vegas.

I really hope I can start a regular podcast / video blog sometime soon.
